1. MUMIAT OATHING ON AUGUST SEVEN IN KERICHO AT KENUGUT PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS COMPLEX IN KERICHO:
Eye witnesses said that 25 oxen and 25 dogs were slaughtered for the oath. The oath was for binding Kalenjins together for the purpose of ethnic cleansing of all Kikuyus and Kisiis out of the rift valley.
William Samoei Arap Ruto brought the Oxen but the dogs were collected locally.
Kenugut is Ruto’s ancestral home. Ruto is a Kipsigis but his father had sold off their family land and migrated to Eldoret, a Nandi-occupied area in Uasin Gishu.
Hundreds of Kalenjin young men toook the oath. The aims of the oathing were:
To kill and drive out all Kikuyus from the Rift Valley and drive them to Naivasha where forces under William Ole Ntimama, an ardent Kikuyu hater who supported the 1992 genocide targeting the Kikuyu, would take over and kill and drive the Kikuyus to Kijabe, the pre- colonial Western boundary of Kikuyu Land.
To reduce the Kikuyu number to a manageable level by killing one million of them by mass killing of those seeking refuge in churches, refugee camps and other areas.
To support ODM who had promised to help them accomplish this task within 90 days of taking over the government of Kenya.
After the oaths, training and indoctrination camps were set up and operated in the following places.
Eldoret in Mr. Mark Too’s farm. Mark Too is the former chairman of Lonrho.
Girimoli at the sub-chief’s farm in Kericho. Here, both Luo and Kalenjins were trained
Bomet in the farm owned by Mr. Kipkalya Kones. Note that Kones was involved in the horrific 1992 genocide against the Kikuyus but he was never prosecuted.
Kuresoi on the farm of Hon. Cheboi who is reported by eye witnesses to have initiated the ethnic cleansing of Kikuyus out of Kuresoi in September 2007 before the elections.
Kipkelion in Kunyak in Kiptenden sub-location in the farm of Mr. Kip Chumba who harbors very strong hatred of the Kikuyu.

2. FOLLOW UP MASS OATHINGS AT CIRCUMCISION RITES FROM 31ST OCTOBER 2007 TO 5TH NOVEMBER 2007
The aim of these mass oathing ceremonies was to prepare all Kalenjin young men for ethnic cleansing war before the general election. All the young men who had missed the August oath were given similar oaths. Circumcision of all mature Kalenjin young men was conducted so as to ensure that all of them would be given oaths, indoctrinated in Kikuyu hatred and ethnic cleansing and ready for war before the general election.
As usual the circumcision was done in forests and the young men trained in these forest hidings for one full month. Among the things taught in the camps were:
War techniques and war cries which signal gathering for attack (a sort of high pitched ululation), and actual attack burning and killing (an intermittent monkey whoop).
Culture including the role of their legendary colonial hero, Koitalel Arap Samoei and his re-incarnation, Samoei Arap Ruto.
Kikuyu hatred where the Kikuyu were described as hyenas (Madoa-Doa, i.e. spotted hyenas) and thieves who must be killed and expelled out of the Rift Valley.
Marking of Kalenjin homes with small, 6 to 8 inch long, gourds and Kikuyu homes with a black “X”. These markings indicated which homes were to be spared and which homes were to be eliminated.
3. PROMISES MADE TO KALENJIN YOUNG MEN AT INDOCTRINATION AND TRAINING PLACES
The young men were promised the following:
The ODM government was going to employ all of them in the army.
During the ethic cleansing war, they would be paid in cash every morning through their village elders who would also bless them for the day’s acts of terror, violence and carnage.
Their own parents would be given some of land belonging to the dead or displaced Kikuyus and 100,000 shillings per homestead towards the construction cost of a new house since the young men were to burn all Kikuyu houses.
Each warrior would be given a Kikuyu woman for wife from Kikuyu women of reproductive age who were to be spared in the planned massive genocide.
All properties and businesses belonging to the Kikuyu in the Rift Valley would be given to the Kalenjin under the ODM Majimbo (regionalism) government.
For the rest of the Kikuyu farmland in the Rift Valley, White men of British and Southern African origin including ex-Zimbabwe whites would form joint venture companies with Kalenjins to farm such land. The new companies would employ only Kalenjins. All profits from such farms would be shared between the white men and the Kalenjins. This would make the Kalenjins very wealthy. (NB: It has been reported that the white men and Kalenjin leaders had been seen touring such land long before the elections).
3. CONSEQUENCES OF THE PREPARATION OF KALENJIN TERROR GANGS
Eye witnesses reported that on 30th December at 10 am, at the Caltex Petrol station in Kericho town:
(a) Mr. Franklin Bett gave unspecified sums of money to Kalenjin and Luo young men.
(b) Immediately after the payment the young men started stoning vehicles and burning kiosks which they thought were Kikuyu owned but were actually owned by Kipsigis and Kisii people.
(c) At Kunyak in Kericho the following took place: The Kalenjins lit a huge fire and bundles of a ceremonial milky plant were brought. Meat was roasted and taken by the Kalenjin young men and elders. The elders administered oaths and tied pieces of the milky plant around the necks of the Kalenjin young men.
(d) When the ceremony was over the Kalenjin young men who had participated went around threatening Kikuyus in Swahili telling the Kikuyus, “Whether Kibaki wins or looses, you will find out the difference between blankets (for sleeping on) and gunny bags ( for picking the dead). “Kibaki ashinde asishinde mtatofautisha blanketi na gunia.”
(e) At Koru in Kipkelion, within 15 minutes of the announcement of Kibaki’s win, Kalenjins started terrorizing Kikuyus and burning Kikuyu farms and property.
(f) Within two and a half hours, Kalenjin terror was unleashed on Kikuyu properties in all towns and farming areas in the Rift Valley. Kalenjin young men killed Kikuyus and looted and burned their property while chanting the war songs they had learned at the oath-taking rites.
4. COLLUSION BY THE POLICE AND PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION
At Girimoli in Kipkelion, the first wave of Kalenjin and Luo terror gangs were repulsed by the Kikuyu. The police then intervened and chased away the Kikuyu and stopped them from defending their women, children and property. The Kalenjin and Luo terror gangs went on with their grisly business uninterrupted by the police. In some cases, Kikuyu men were hacked to death and their women raped in full view of the police. Some of the police told the Kikuyus in Swahili, “wacheni Kazi iendelee”. This was a mockery of Kibaki’s re-election campaign call of “Kazi iendelee!” meaning “Let (my) the work (of rebuilding the economy and progress) continue by re-electing me”.
5. FUNDING
In the 1992 and 1997 genocide, the organizers had promised the Kalenjin terror gangs KSh. 50,000 (fifty thousand shillings) per gang member at the completion of the task. However, it is said that these gangsters were only paid Sh. 6,000 (six thousand shillings). This time the gangsters have insisted on daily payments in advance on each morning of the day of assignment. As a result, those who have been captured in action so far have been found to be in possession of between ten thousand and one hundred and fifty thousand shillings in new notes.
In addition to the above, extra money was being paid for the following:
Burning a timber house, 3,000 shillings
Burning a stone house, 7,500 shillings
Killing a Kikuyu man, a Kikuyu boy or a Kikuyu woman in her reproductive years, sums unknown but different sums were paid for each category with the maximum being paid for the men and the minimum for the women.
No money was given for killing elderly women and female children or for burning grass huts. Notwithstanding this, the gangs still killed such women and girl children and burned such huts anyway.
It should be noted that in the 1992 genocide, special sums were paid for killing pregnant Kikuyu women and for killing their unborn babies. A higher sum was paid for killing a male baby than for killing a female baby.
Most of the Kalenjin terror gangsters captured in the current genocide and ethnic cleansing state that they will not betray each other or their plans. A few who have talked have said that they are funded by Franklin Bett, Ruto and Njonjo. Those who are badly wounded in action are saying to interrogators in Swahili, “Ulizemi Ruto na Franklin Bett kwa nini ninakufa.” That is “Ask Ruto and Franklin Bett why I am dying.”

7. ULTIMATE AIMS OF THE GENOCIDE AND ETHNIC CLEANSING
To drive all Kikuyus out of the rift valley.
To kill at least one million Kikuyus by flushing them out of homes into camps where they are concentrated and bombed or otherwise exterminating them so as to reduce their numerical dominance in Kenya. This they say is supported by ODM which had promised to help Kalenjins get their land back from the Kikuyus and accomplish the genocide within 90 days of taking power.
To take all Kikuyu farms and property.
To take all young Kikuyu women and female children but to kill as many males as possible. (This was done over 100 years ago to the Uasin Gishu (Gwas Nkishu) Maasai and the Laikipiak Maasai as a result of which these two Maasai clans were all but exterminated.)
To invite white farmers from Southern Africa to come and form joint farming ventures with KAMATUSA (Kalenjins, Maasai, Turkana and Samburu) in the best parts of the Rift Valley farm land which at present legally belongs to Kikuyus.
Ensure dominance of the KAMATUSA in the Kenyan armed forces by recruiting all their unemployed young men into the army.
8. BACKGROUND TO WILLIAM SAMOEI ARAPRUTO’S POLITICAL AND SPIRITUAL CLAIMS.
Uasin Gishu (the Eldoret area of Kenya) was formerly occupied by the Maasai of the GWAS NKISHU (i.e. “Spotted Cows” clan). The Gwas Nkishu were massacred in a genocidal intra-Maasai clan civil war and replaced by the South African whites -Boers, and a few British farmers. The Kalenjin moved in as “Squatters” in the colonial days. Members of the family of the former President De Clerks of South Africa still live in Uasin Gishu. However Ruto, a Kipsigis, migrated from Kericho to Uasin Gishu when his father sold the family ancestral land in Kericho, his Kipsigis motherland. However, Ruto has since bought back 3 acres of his former family farm in Kericho but he has not yet put up a home there.
Kalenjins are therefore settlers in Uasin Gishu. The indigenous owners are the Gwas Nkishu Maasai, a few of whom are still in existence among the other Maasai clans. The Kalenjin are as “foreign” in Uasin Gishu as the white settlers like the De Clerks or the Kikuyu.
Ruto has convinced the Kalenjins that he is the re-incarnation of the Nandi anti British liberation war hero Koitalel Arap Samoei. Ruto’s middle name is Samoei. He and his followers ardently believe that he is the re-incarnation. They also claim that the re-incarnation was prophesied to happen 100 years after the death of their Kalenjin liberation hero. They believe that it is now 100 years since the death of Koitalel Arap Samoei. Their re-incarnated hero has therefore come back to liberate the whole of the Rift valley and Kenya from Kikuyu domination. Ruto’s home in Kericho is in Ainamoi Constituency and his uncles still live there. His agenda is not the same as that of the current ODM leader’s agenda. He has his own Kalenjin, Maasai, Turkana and Samburu (Kamatusa) agenda and also says openly that he wishes to be an ODM presidential candidate in 2012.

More disturbing news from Rift Valley
The church volunteers in Eldoret and Molo are sending back exceptionally scary reports. They have been assisting the victims of the clashes, and also, most notably, a number of attackers who were shot by police and wounded, who also require relief.
These attackers have revealed that:
A senior Pentagon member was the one who addressed them three weeks before the elections and promised them the following:
1) That the incoming ODM government policy was to purge Rift Valley of ‘Foreigners’ from Central Province.
2) That the Foreigners’ land would be parcelled out to the attackers.
3) That they would be paid Kshs 500 per gang for each house torched.
4) That unless the previous owners were killed, they may come back after several years to identify the attackers and reclaim their land, especially if ODM was no longer in power.
5) In addition, no witnesses should be left in the event of an international investigation.
6) The bows and arrows and other weapons were transported in the trucks of a local businessman.
7) A special Kalenjin oath was taken by all the participants who then camped in secluded places in the forests.
8) The signal to attack came from designated ringleaders who were also the ones to confirm for the paymasters how many houses each group had torched.
9) They were asked to continue with the activity even though ODM had lost, until such time as they had ‘cleared the area’.
10) Payments for the activities have been honored, with bonuses given for the very active groups.
In the back page of the Sunday Nation of 13th Nov, the police spokesman was very confident that they have identified the MP behind the clashes. They are relying on the evidence of these injured and captured warriors.
11) Most of the hate messages were dispersed in vernacular through KASS FM, under one Arap Sang.
12) There were many moderate Kalenjins who, although voting for ODM, were totally against the plans, and the inciters had to recruit special groups to initiate the attacks.

As he reminded us again after losing narrowly to Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, Barack Obama likes to evoke Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech.
We must all hope that, like King's, Mr. Obama's dream is "deeply rooted in the American dream." But before giving him the keys to the White House, Americans might like to know a little more about the content of Mr. Obama's dream.
Let me propose an unlikely place to start looking: Kenya. Even in the midst of the primaries, the horrific scenes from that country since the disputed election on December 27 will not have escaped most people. In particular, the burning of a church with up to 50 men, women, and children inside, while machete-armed mobs slaughter up to 600 more people, have evoked memories of the Rwandan genocide of 1994.
Who is behind these massacres? The opposition leader, Raila Odinga, has had a good press in the West, after he accused the president, Mwai Kibaki, of rigging the election. But the victims of the recent violence have mostly been members of Mr. Kibaki's tribe, the Kikuyu, while those who have gone berserk are supporters of Mr. Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement, which is dominated by the rival Luo tribe.
Whether Mr. Odinga has ordered his men to commit murder and arson is unclear. But his own background does not exactly suggest enthusiasm for democracy and the rule of law. Mr. Odinga's father, Oginga Odinga, led the Communist opposition during the Cold War and Raila Odinga was educated in Communist East Germany.

Opposition Officials Helped Plan Rift Valley Violence
(Eldoret, January 24, 2008) – Human Rights Watch investigations indicate that, after Kenya's disputed elections, opposition party officials and local elders planned and organized ethnic-based violence in the Rift Valley, Human Rights Watch said today. The attacks, targeting mostly Kikuyu and Kisii people in and around the town of Eldoret, could continue unless the government and opposition act to stop the violence, Human Rights Watch said.Human Rights Watch called on the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership to take immediate steps to stop its supporters from committing further attacks. At the same time, Human Rights Watch said the Kenyan police should urgently deploy extra officers to the region to protect displaced people and resident Kikuyu communities. "Opposition leaders are right to challenge Kenya's rigged presidential poll, but they can't use it as an excuse for targeting ethnic groups," said Georgette Gagnon, acting Africa director at Human Rights Watch. "We have evidence that ODM politicians and local leaders actively fomented some post-election violence, and the authorities should investigate and make sure it stops now." Research by Human Rights Watch in and around the town of Eldoret, which has borne the brunt of the Rift Valley violence, indicates that attacks by several ethnic communities against others, especially local Kikuyu populations, were planned soon after the elections. In some cases, local elders and opposition politicians appear to have incited and organized the violence. Since December 27, 2007, clashes between members of the Kalenjin and Luya communities and their Kikuyu and Kisii neighbors in the Rift Valley have left more than 400 people dead and have displaced thousands more. Human Rights Watch interviewed members of several pro-ODM Kalenjin communities who described the ways in which local leaders and ODM party agents actively fomented violence against Kikuyu communities. A Kalenjin preacher in a village in Eldoret North constituency told Human Rights Watch that on the morning of December 29, 2007, a local ODM party mobilizer "called a meeting and said that war had broken in Eldoret town, so the elders organized the youth into groups of not less than 15, and they went to loot [Kikuyu] homes and burn them down." The following day, the village held another meeting and the youth marched to the nearby town of Turbo. They were turned away by police. But they returned early the next morning, catching the police off guard, "and burnt almost half of the Kikuyu shops in town, including the petrol station," according to the preacher. Human Rights Watch visited Turbo and found that most Kikuyu-owned buildings had been laid to ruin by the attackers. Displaced Kikuyu seeking shelter at the police station in Turbo confirmed to Human Rights Watch that their homes and businesses were destroyed by groups of Kalenjin youth. Human Rights Watch spoke to numerous members of Kalenjin commmunities around Eldoret who provided similar accounts. In many communities, local leaders and ODM mobilizers arranged frequent meetings following the election to organize, direct and facilitate the violence unleashed by gangs of local youth. In one case, an ODM councillor candidate is said to have provided a lorry to ferry youth to burn the homes of Kikuyu families in a neighboring community. Many Kalenjin community leaders told Human Rights Watch that if the area's ODM leadership or the local Kalenjin radio station KASS FM told people unequivically to stop attacks on Kikuyu homes, then they believe the violence would stop. "If the leaders say stop, it will stop immediately," said one Kalenjin elder. Human Rights Watch also collected accounts from several Kalenjin men present at community meetings where local elders and ODM mobilizers urged Kalenjin residents to contribute money toward the purchase of automatic weapons. Some communities have reportedly managed to obtain such weapons already. The same sources confirmed that plans have already been made to attack camps of displaced Kikuyu and the two remaining neighborhoods in Eldoret town where many Kikuyu homes remain intact – Langas and Munyaka. The Kenyan police are already investigating responsibility for the violence in the Rift Valley, but its forces are overstretched by the nationwide electoral crisis. In the light of apparent plans by some groups to attack camps for internally displaced persons, Human Rights Watch called on the Kenyan police to ensure that all locations of displaced people are adequately protected against attack. Fourteen displaced Kikuyu and Kisii people sheltering in a monastery in Kipkelion were killed last week in an attack by Kalenjin warriors. The sprawling tent camp in Eldoret is now home to more than 10,000 displaced persons, with only a light police presence to protect them. Any attack on the camp would likely prove disastrous. Other equally vulnerable camps have been set up in other areas. "The murder of people sheltering at a monastery in Kipkelion illustrates the need for better police protection of displaced people," said Gagnon. "Protecting the thousands of vulnerable people chased from their homes across the Rift Valley from further attack should be a priority for the Kenyan police." Background Kenyans voted peacefully and in record numbers in parliamentary and presidential elections on December 27, 2007. In the parliamentary elections, 99 of the 210 seats were won by the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). Incumbent Vice-President Moody Awori and 14 of incumbent President Mwai Kibaki's top ministers lost their seats. According to independent observers, the presidential vote count appeared to be tampered with to such an extent as to make it impossible to determine who won the vote. Even the chairman of the Electoral Commission of Kenya admitted that he did "not know whether Mr. Kibaki won the elections." The European Union Electoral Mission expressed grave doubts about the legitimacy of the presidential results. The most significant fraud appears to have been committed by the government camp in the final stages of tallying the votes. The sudden announcement that Kibaki had won the vote triggered protests throughout the country. The protests, along with widespread post-election violence and the brutal police suppression of opposition protests, has plunged the country into crisis. Talks between the opposition ODM and the Kibaki government are proceeding under the auspices of a panel of eminent African personalities led by Kofi Annan, former United Nations secretary- general. Violence erupted in the wake of the disputed elections throughout the Rift Valley and the west of the country as angry citizens burned and looted factories, shops and homes, and chased those perceived to be supporters of Kibaki (mostly, but not exclusively, members of his Kikuyu tribe) away. Kikuyu homes in the Rift Valley have been selectively burned and Kikuyu residents killed. Thirty people were burned to death in a church near Eldoret where they had been seeking shelter. The police confirmed the deaths of 526 people nationwide, including 81 shot by police officers, but independent estimates suggest that the total figure could be much higher. Thousands of Kikuyu and members of other tribes have been displaced and are in the process of leaving the region if they can.

The real reason for Kenya's violence
NEW YORK - Hundreds have been killed and hundreds of thousands displaced in the three weeks since Kenya's hotly disputed presidential elections. Once considered an island of stability in Africa, the country is suffering what the media has called a "shocking outbreak of violence" and "tribal clashes." The key questions we should be asking are: Who is responsible for this violence? How is it happening? But we will not ask these questions if we continue to see the current violence as simply a spontaneous outburst of anger at the election rigging or "tribal warfare." The international community must realize that Kenya's violence today is fueled by strongmen on both sides of the political divide.
They are exploiting ethnic identity, pitting one community against another, as a means to gain power. It is a practice with a long history in Kenyan politics. The fury of the violence may look like "tribal warfare" linked to election anger, especially in the worst instances of ethnic cleansing – as in Eldoret, where women and children were burned alive in a church. A common explanation is that members of the Kikuyu community are facing retaliation from others for their longtime "dominance." Like Kenya's first president, Jomo Kenyatta, President Mwai Kibaki is Kikuyu; opposition leader Raila Odinga is Luo. Part of the violence is not directly organized and is instead linked to confrontations between protesters and police, who have a history of brutality. Many understandably feel rage at the election fraud carried out on behalf of Mr. Kibaki. But much of the ethnicized violence is linked to organized efforts by political strongmen who have experience playing divide-and-rule.
Remember Daniel arap Moi? He was Kenya's president from 1978 to 2002. He and most of his cohorts during this time were Kalenjin. In the 1990s, they faced the probable loss of power in multiparty elections to an opposition that included many Kikuyu. In response, Mr. Moi's men filled their campaigns with hate against all Kikuyu and convinced many that any member of that group, from a child to a poor farmer, represented "Kikuyu domination." This ploy conveniently shifted blame from Moi and his mostly non-Kikuyu crowd who had been in power for years. It shifted attention away from the massive land grabbing and corruption they continued from the previous government that helped put the poor, including the numerous Kikuyu poor, in slums or sent them across the country in search of a small patch of land to eke out a living. Sadly, this anti-Kikuyu campaign gained supporters among unemployed youth who learned to project their problems onto a Kikuyu face. Poor men were given weapons and paid to kill and displace. In return, they were promised or sold vacated land. Ultimately, in the 1990s, thousands of people died and almost half a million were displaced.
This violence helped Moi's small group of corrupt "big men" stay in power for a decade. In the deeply flawed elections of 1992 and 1997, displacement became a form of gerrymandering. Not one person has been tried, let alone convicted, for these killings and displacements. The international community at the time seemed quite ready to forget as well. Since his election in 2002, Kibaki has collaborated in this deliberate forgetting. Part of the reason was that he had brought into his ruling coalition many of the worst perpetrators of violence. They could deliver votes in key areas and were willing to drop their anti-Kikuyu rhetoric once in power. Mr. Odinga, the opposition leader, has also brought notorious ethnic cleansers into his coalition. Their anti-Kikuyu rhetoric is a useful political tool against the Kikuyu incumbent. All these advocates of violence have lived with complete impunity. They have learned that they could preach hate, organize youth to kill and displace, and be rewarded with a cabinet post. They could get rid of voters who were unlikely to support them. They could use violence for bargaining power at the national level, something that appears to be happening today. The current project of "ethnic cleansing" in the Rift Valley suggests that some politicians, this time allied mostly with the opposition, have learned these lessons well. The key lesson for the international community to learn from past violence is that a new government alone, especially if it welcomes perpetrators of violence into its core, cannot fix this deep problem of strongmen politics. This time we must demand a thorough and independent investigation into all forms of violence. We should demand that those guilty of organizing, funding, or authorizing killings from any ethnic community be, at a minimum, excluded from high office. Let us not forget that this violence has a history and perpetrators and that there are responsibilities to be assigned. This time let us demand justice and not repeat the mistakes of the past. Otherwise, we set more roadblocks on Kenya's path toward a just, democratic, and truly civil society.

They are exploiting ethnic identity, pitting one community against another, as a means to gain power. It is a practice with a long history in Kenyan politics. The fury of the violence may look like "tribal warfare" linked to election anger, especially in the worst instances of ethnic cleansing – as in Eldoret, where women and children were burned alive in a church. A common explanation is that members of the Kikuyu community are facing retaliation from others for their longtime "dominance." Like Kenya's first president, Jomo Kenyatta, President Mwai Kibaki is Kikuyu; opposition leader Raila Odinga is Luo. Part of the violence is not directly organized and is instead linked to confrontations between protesters and police, who have a history of brutality. Many understandably feel rage at the election fraud carried out on behalf of Mr. Kibaki. But much of the ethnicized violence is linked to organized efforts by political strongmen who have experience playing divide-and-rule.
Remember Daniel arap Moi? He was Kenya's president from 1978 to 2002. He and most of his cohorts during this time were Kalenjin. Ruto and the Karamajong Guerrillas
This is a statement from People Foundation, Inc, California. Over the last couple of days, we have seen Hon. Raila Odinga come to terms with the escalating lose of human lives in our country, and has consistently softened his stand towards a peaceful resolution to the current crisis. One thing that has aroused our curiosity is the posture that William Ruto has taken in the whole reconciliation process. We got concerned and embarked on a quick investigative research to unearth what is driving Ruto not to explore peaceful resolution to the social-political crisis going on in our country. Let the truth be known that William Ruto is the man sponsoring the genocide operations going in Rift Valley through the Karamajong Guerilla Fighters, a militia with operations similar to the old known militia "the Shiftas" that fought Moi in the 1980s. Reliable sources indicate that Karamojong Guerrilla Fighters arrived in city of Eldoret where they mercilessly massacred hundreds of innocent people including women and children. Recently Ruto was reported to be out of Nairobi, and could not attend the meeting between Raila and Kalonzo. We have established that Ruto was in Eldoret meeting with the Karamojong Guerilla Fighters. Ruto knew that the only way ODM could have access to adequate firepower (KEG) was to engage the Karamojong Guerilla Fighter who are obviously known to possess insurmountable quantities of AK-47, Automatic Rifles and other sophisticated small arms. It is important to highlight the fact that Karamojong communities are cousins with the Luos, and therefore, it is the same militia that is killing people in Nyanza. It is therefore imperative for the government of the day to take decisive and conclusive action against William Ruto, and the perpetrators of genocide. We cannot afford to see one more live lost. We are also asking Hon Raila Odinga to disassociate himself with William Ruto and speak for peace and return of the nation to normalcy. Who knows whether the judicial process could over turn the ECK decision, and see a re-run of the presidential elections? Karamoja, the nomadic pastoralists of Northern Uganda and Kenya have traditionally raided each other's livestock, an activity that flows naturally from their cultural frameworks for life. During the raiding season, the raid is typically followed counter-raid with considerable loss of life. Ever since they became neighbors, raiding has gone on intermittently, not only between Karamojong and Pokot, but also between them and Jie, Dodoso, Turkana, Samburu, Marakwet, Sapiny ot Sabawot, and Bukusu. Before 1970s, Karamoja was peaceful, pastoral and traditional, but the years according to Mirzeler & Young (2000) ushered in the new era of guns. The proliferation of automatic rifles (Leggett, 2000) has unequivocally infected the Karamojong culture with ills of modern AK-47 raids, which currently pose the single greatest risk to the security of the northern region. Mirzeler & Young (2000) write that there are over 40,000 AK-47 in Karamojong community, while Gray (2000) estimates that there are over 100,000 automatic rifles in Karamoja. Firearms are not novelties for the Karamojong, they have enculturated them with very little fuss, just like other Iron implements, all of which are acquired from foreigners. The Karamojongs have possessed firearms since 1870 when the colonial government licensed some, and there have always been at least a few illicit firearms. The community started acquiring sophisticated guns in large quantities in the 1970s following the routing of President Idi Amin's army in Uganda by an alliance of Tanzanian People's Defense Force and Uganda exiles (Mburu, 2000). One known major source was the Moroto barracks which the fleeing Ugandan dictator abandoned intact thus allowing the Karamojong to help themselves to unlimited quantities of rifles, small arms and ammunitions. William Ruto, knowing very well that in the context of the Turkana and Karamojong people that the current governments in Kenya and Uganda are part of the insecurity problem, has incited the Karamojongs and other communities to violence, and secretly engaged the Karamojong Guerilla Fighters to inflict fear and suffering among the people in protest of the outcome of the just concluded general elections. To this end, Ruto should be apprehended as an underworld warlord who incites ethnic communities to arm and commit genocide like what recently happened in the church campus in Eldoret, For those who think the government should not act decisively and conclusively with William Ruto should read (Romans 13:4) .. for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.
